Joan Fraser and Patti Griffiths spent a delightful morning with Brenda Richardson sifting through various unplaced photographs from the archive's 'mystery plays'. Brenda and Joan's excellent recall and invaluable input enabled many mysteries to be solved.
Brenda was enormously generous and gave the archive many hitherto unseen photographs, programmes and cuttings making our archive all the richer. This treasure was added to the archive material recently received from Harriet Spence (granddaughter of Cecily and Geoffrey Spence; founder members) which includes minutes from 1940 and a gem of a find; a tiny book listing the very first plays and audience attendance. The archive is a resource for members and visitors so please feel free to take down any of the black files in the bar to leaf through your theatre's history.
