Wednesday 5th April until Saturday 8th April
Youth@TheLittle are delighted to bring you two enchanting plays this year.
Our Juniors are presenting an exciting production of Arabian Nights, packed full of glorious characters and adventures. They have worked incredibly hard and have certainly risen to the challenge.
It is wedding night in the palace of King Shahrayar. By morning, the new Queen Shahrazadis to be put to death like all the other young brides before her. But she has one gift that could save her – the gift of storytelling. With her mischievous imagination, the young Queen spins her dazzling array of tales and characters. On her side are Ali Baba and Princess Parizade – adventurers in strange and magical worlds populated by talking birds and thieves. But will her silver-tongued stories be enough to enchant her husband and save her life?
The Seniors chose to perform the family favourite, Goodnight Mr Tom; a magical stage adaptation of this uplifting story, set during the build up to the Second World War.
We follow the young William Beech, who is evacuated to the idyllic English countryside, and forges a remarkable and heart-warming friendship with the elderly recluse, Tom Oakley. All is perfect until William is suddenly summoned by his mother back to London.
Both productions have youth members connected to our adult membership, Freddie & Henry Lindfield, William Potton, Hero Tarling, Noaise & Eimhin Wellings (Frankenstein), Mabel Landrum and Romany Gilmour (A Little Night Music).
These productions wouldn’t be possible without a tremendous amount of work and support from members. A huge heartfelt thanks to my entire team: Michael James MD, Janet White Stage Manager, Patti Griffiths Choreography/hair/make-up, Michael Folkard set design, Beverley Grover Light and Sound design, Margaret Skeet & Ellie Medhurst costumes for GMT, Glenys Stuart costumes for AN, Stephen Evans DSM, Steven Adams publicity/set, Richard Harris set, Judi Campbell and Ann Atkins directing assistance, Sorcha Harris Assistant Director, Joseph Bentley 1:1 support, Craig Flint Lighting/Sound Operation.
