Rehearsals

Due to the summer we will start rehearsals at the end of August/beginning of September but dependent on the cast we may start some rehearsals in July. Intending to have rehearsals will be Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday.

About the Play

In 1966 a terrible disaster took place in Aberfan, Wales. A colliery toil slip slid down the mountain into the village of Aberfan covering the primary school 116 school children and 28 adults died as a result.

The Revlon Girl takes place 8 months after the disaster. The women of the village met above the local hotel bar to talk, cry and sometimes laugh without feeling guilty. At one of the meetings they looked at each other and admitted how much they felt they’d let themselves go. So afraid that people would think them frivolous they secretly arrange for a Revlon representative to come and give them a talk on beauty tips. The play is set on the evening that the Revlon girl has come.

Welsh accents (Merthyr Tydfil if you look it up) will be required for Sian, Marilyn, Rona, Jean and Jackie but we are hoping to provide some help from an accent coach. Revlon doesn’t need a Welsh accent - she says she is from Bristol but could have a more neutral RP accent.

If anyone is interested in helping with any backstage (including sound), costume or make-up please let me know.
